WhatsApp for schools, colleges and coaching centres
Education runs on deadlines that parents must not miss, and WhatsApp is where Indian parents actually read things. The risk is volume: a school messaging every parent about everything trains them to ignore the channel.

What is worth sending
Anything with a date attached and a consequence for missing it. Fee deadlines, exam schedules, result availability, and closures.
Anything requiring an action from the parent: consent, document submission, a slot to choose.
- Fee reminder: the second instalment for {{name}} is due on {{date}}. Pay here: {{link}}
- The scholarship test is this Saturday at 9am. Reply if the hall ticket needs resending.
- School closed tomorrow due to heavy rain. Classes resume Thursday.
Admissions
Admissions enquiries arrive at night and at weekends, which is exactly when offices are shut and competitors reply first.
An agent that answers fee structure, eligibility and course questions immediately, then books a counsellor call, converts materially more of them than a callback the next working day.

What to be careful with
Do not put individual student performance in a group. Marks, attendance problems and behaviour go to that parent's own thread.
Keep groups operational: announcements only, with a stated route for personal queries. Groups that become discussion forums get muted, and then the announcements are missed too.
Muting is the real risk in education messaging. Once a parent mutes the school group, every future message is lost, including the urgent ones.
Frequently asked questions
Should schools use groups or broadcasts?
Broadcasts for announcements, so parents cannot reply to each other and nobody's number is exposed to the rest of the class. Groups only where discussion is genuinely wanted.
Is it appropriate to send fee reminders on WhatsApp?
Yes, and they perform better than email or letters. Send to the parent individually, never in a group.
