WhatsApp Business account access, explained
There is no single WhatsApp Business login, and that confuses people arriving from other software. Access works differently depending on which of the three WhatsApps you are using.

Three kinds of access
The consumer app and the Business app both authenticate by phone number and an SMS code. The account lives on that device; WhatsApp Web extends the same session to a browser.
The Business API has no login screen at all. It is a connection between Meta and a platform, and you log into the platform rather than into WhatsApp.
Why teams struggle with this
Businesses expect a dashboard with user accounts. The app model gives them a phone, which means the only way to add a colleague is to hand over the device or share a WhatsApp Web session.
Both are audit problems. Neither tells you who replied to which customer.
- Business app: one device, one user, no roles
- WhatsApp Web: a mirror of that device, not a second account
- Business API: proper user accounts on the platform, with roles and assignment

Getting team access properly
On the API, each colleague has their own login on the platform, with their own permissions, working the same business number. Conversations are assigned and every action is attributable.
The number itself stays registered to the business rather than to whoever holds the handset.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a WhatsApp Business web login?
WhatsApp Web mirrors a phone's session; it is not a separate account with its own credentials. Proper multi-user access requires the Business API.
Can I use the same number on two phones?
Linked devices extend one account to more devices, but it is still one account, with no assignment or roles. For a team, the API is the supported answer.
What happens if the phone holding the account is lost?
On the app, access goes with it until you re-register. On the API the number is registered to the business, so a lost handset changes nothing.
